Modern residential façade in Ahlum aluminum composite panels, matte black finish

Architectural applications: ACP panel cladding and façades.

For the architect or specifier working on an exterior cladding scope, the aluminum composite panel (ACP/ACM) offers a flat, light and durable surface. This guide summarizes the composition, finish and façade applications Ahlum offers for residential and commercial projects.

The material

The composite panel
for the building envelope.

An aluminum composite panel is a "sandwich": two thin aluminum sheets bonded to each side of a polyethylene core. The result is rigid, light and perfectly flat — a stable surface for a façade specification.

↳ STRUCTURE

5005 aluminum · PE core

Two 0.5 mm sheets of 5005 aluminum bonded to a polyethylene core. Total thickness 4 mm. Light, rigid, warp-free.

↳ FINISH

Matte PVDF, built to last

High-performance matte PVDF finish: stable color, UV- and weather-resistant, built to last on exterior façades.

↳ INSTALLATION

Cuts, folds, installs

Easy to cut, fold and install — a surface ready to paint, print or integrate into a façade system.

Specification

Formats and seams,
for specification.

Format directly affects the number of visible seams on a façade — a decision worth settling early in an architectural spec.

01

4×8 — the standard format

1220 × 2440 mm (48″ × 96″), 32 sq. ft. per panel. Fits most projects, available by the unit online.

02

5×10 — large surfaces

50 sq. ft. per panel. Reduces the number of seams on a large commercial façade or a full-height sign. Reserved for distributor accounts.

03

Two finishes, one standard

Matte black and matte white, the same PVDF finish on both formats — a consistent spec from one project to the next.

Frequently asked

Architectural applications:
your questions.

Q1

Can ACP panels be used on exterior façades?

Yes. The matte PVDF finish is UV- and weather-resistant, and built to last on exterior façades, residential and commercial alike.

Q2

What formats are available for an architectural project?

4×8 (32 sq. ft.) is the standard format, available by the unit online. 5×10 (50 sq. ft.) reduces the number of seams on a large commercial façade, but is reserved for distributor accounts.

Q3

Can I get a sample for an architect's spec?

Yes, a physical sample ($5 per finish) lets you confirm the color and texture before specifying the product in a quote.
