Ahlum aluminum composite panels, matte PVDF finish, coming off the production line

The matte PVDF finish, on a façade.

On an aluminum composite panel, the finish isn't just about looks — it's the face exposed to the outdoors, to UV and weather, year after year. The Ahlum ACP panel is finished in matte PVDF, in matte black and matte white. This guide explains what that coating changes for an architect's spec or a commercial job.

The coating

PVDF, matte:
two words, one job.

PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) is the coating family applied to the panel's exposed face. "Matte" describes the finish's texture: a surface that diffuses light rather than reflecting it, with no gloss. At Ahlum, both come together on a single panel, in matte black and matte white.

↳ ROLE

Stable color on a façade

The matte PVDF finish is built for outdoor façades: stable color, resistant to UV and weather.

↳ SUBSTRATE

Applied on 5005 aluminum

The coating is applied to the two 0.5 mm 5005 aluminum skins that make up each panel, over the polyethylene core.

↳ COLORS

Matte black, matte white

Two matte finishes in stock. A physical sample is available for $5 per finish, to confirm the color before you buy.

For your spec

What the finish changes
for a professional.

Three questions to check before specifying a finish in an architectural quote or a production order.

01

Weather resistance

A matte PVDF finish is designed to stay stable in color against UV and weather, on an outdoor façade.

02

Validated by sample

A physical sample ($5 per finish) lets you confirm the real color and texture before writing it into a quote.

03

Consistent across ACP vs ACM

The matte PVDF finish is identical no matter which acronym your quote uses — ACP or ACM, same construction.

Frequently asked questions

Matte PVDF finish:
your questions.

Q1

Is the matte PVDF finish sold separately?

No. The matte PVDF finish is factory-applied to the panel's 5005 aluminum skins — it is part of the standard construction, not a separate option.

Q2

Can I get a sample of the finish before ordering?

Yes. A physical sample is available for $5 per finish (matte black or matte white), to confirm the color and texture before a quote or an order.

Q3

Is the matte finish suited to outdoor façades?

Yes, that is its main purpose: the matte PVDF coating is built for outdoor façades, with color that stays stable against UV and weather.

Validate the finish before you specify.

Order a physical sample ($5 per finish), or request a quote for your next façade or signage project.
