Aluminum composite panel

A sandwich: two 0.5 mm sheets of 5005 aluminum bonded to a polyethylene core, 4 mm total thickness, matte PVDF finish. Lightness and flatness come from the geometry of the sandwich.

High-pressure laminate

A dense panel of wood or cellulose fibers impregnated with resins, compressed under high pressure beneath decorative layers. The material look lives in the panel's mass.

Both exist to cover a surface with something flat and durable. The difference shows up when you work the panel, fix it and pay for it.

On the ground, the ACP vs HPL choice is often settled at the router, not in the catalog.

A shop that already owns a carbide-blade saw and a routing tool turns out returns, corners and boxes in ACP with no new investment — the composite's sharp fold replaces assemblies and angle trims. The same work in HPL goes through assembly sections and more table time.

Conversely, a project that demands an in-mass wood decor, a thicker panel or HPL-specific characteristics gets specified in HPL — and the shop adjusts. The right reflex is to identify the job's most repeated operation (cutting? folding? assembling?) and pick the panel that makes that operation fast. For most residential façades and signs, it's folding — ACP territory.

Returns, corners, cassettes, cut lettering: if the job needs sharp folds and fine cutting, ACP is built for it. HPL is assembled; it doesn't fold.
